Four years ago the Ministry of Education introduced an exciting scholarship programme aimed
at providing an opportunity for students who are part of a family with a low household income
and net worth to attend a New Zealand private secondary school. It is important to note that
these scholarships are not based on academic ability, simply on family income and net worth.
Aspire Scholarships contribute up to $15,000 per y
ear towards the student’s tuition fees and up
to $1,500 per year for course related costs
– and once awarded, the Ministry of Education will
continue to pay these fees for the remainder of the student’s secondary schooling!
This is an incredible opportunity and the Ministry of Education is currently taking applications
for students who will be in Year 9 next year. If you would like your child to have the opportunity
to attend Wentworth College, and would like to apply for one of these scholarships, please
contact Gail Clews in our school office (phone 424-3273, or email
gclews@wentworth.school.nz
). She will be able to answer some of your questions and help you
with the process. Applications close with the Ministry of Education at 5pm on Friday, 26
th April.
Enclosed please find additional information about Aspire Scholarships, together with
information about Wentworth College
. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call if you would like
assistance with the Aspire Scholarship application process. Please be assured that all enquiries
will be kept completely confidential.
